After many years of harsh Brisbane weather including sunlight, humidity, hail, rain, wind and dirt pollution, your roof will inevitably develop signs of damage caused by intensive weathering. Telltale signs include fading & discolouration, lichen and mould growth, and an unsightly, tired-looking roof. PJ Group – Roof Restoration will dramatically improve the appearance and quality of your deteriorated roof by utilising our specialist roof restoration services to identify the key areas of damage and restore the roof to it\’s former glory, just like new.
One of the many problems we encounter with tile roofs in Brisbane is roof capping & ridge damage. This can lead to internal water damage, leaks and in more severe cases, internal structural damage.
Here’s PJ to show you a roof in need of repair:
After removing the ridge capping, you can see how much cement is used and the opportunity for water damage when this breaks down. Over to you Pete!
Some of our Tile Roof Restoration services can include the following:
- Replacement of broken or chipped tiles.
- Adjustment, sealing or replacement of flashings.
- Replacing the concrete underneath the ridge cappings.
- Replacing rusted valley irons.
- Cleaning mould and other residue which accelerates the ageing process.
- Painting and protection treatments to make your roof just like new and dramtaically extend its life.
- Mending of structural damage where appropriate to ensure lasting value.
The next step is to clean the roof; we use high pressure machines to ensure that we remove any old paint, dirt and other contaminants so we are left with a clear surface that is ready for painting. Once the high pressure blasting is complete, we can apply pointing to the ridge cappings which allows the flexibility of movement in your home and resists water penetration due to the acrylic properties of the compound.
Before spraying any primer or paint, we will mask up any areas on your house that could be affected by the painting process. This includes solar panels, wall areas or skylights.
The primer used will depend on the tile surface so that we can successfully apply the following two coats of paint. Some primers are used to build the surface of an older tile, or others are designed to consolidate a previously painted surface.
Finally, it is time for painting! Colour selection is an important part of a roof restoration process. Many decide to simply refresh their existing colour and others decide it is time for a change, but whatever your choice, you can be assured that we use the highest quality roof membrane – Dulux Acratex 962, a product that has been tried and tested for its longevity and is backed by the Dulux 10 Year Manufacturer’s Warranty.
